Default Tranmission?

I tried searching the forums, but haven't found anything like what I am experiencing.

I want to know if anyone has experienced what I am experiencing in my car. I have a 2004.5 Touring, that I bought CPO (with about 32k miles and now has 55k miles... though its been happening since its had 43k miles). I will try and explain this as best as I can.

This is a scenario (though it happens in 2nd and 4th gears as well):

I accelerate and row through the gears until 4th.... let the car slow down and I then down shift into third where the rpm will be at 4000 (for example), and let the car engine brake, coming down in revs... it also happens when I apply the brakes. Usually between 2700 and 3200 rpm I get a big vibration from the transmission (you can feel it in the gearshift), which can also be felt through the pedals and to an extent the car. Bare in mind that I know there is vibration through the gearbox because of the direct linkage.

I even replicated it to the mechanic who went on a drive with me... and he said he would call Nissan, but I have yet to get him back on the phone.

Thats the main and most irritating problem.

In addition I have the following issues:

I hear this weird metallic like, clicking sound from the back of my car.... but only hear it when after I reverse from my parking spot, put it in first, and start moving away (usually with the wheel turned).

Also, my damned cd's keep skipping when the weather is cold. It only goes away when the car has been running for a while (probably after everything in the car has heated up... including the head unit). What to do? Can I switch the headunit for the newer ones with mp3? Mine is the Bose. If so, how much is it?

Thanks in advance for any wisdom that is given.

Never heard anything like that with your transmission scenerio, sorry. The clicking is normal on Zs, I have it too, but it's not as loud as other claim it to be. And as for the CD player, never had that happen to my bose, why not go for an aftermarket one with iPod jacks.

Dude, I have the exact same problem. I have 07 and it vibrates while slowing down and it also vibrates a lot when I am going around 85 mph. Did your dealership fix your issue?

The clicking sounds like the rear axle tsb. The cd player is another tsb/warranty issue.

I had the same problem with the tranny a long time ago, never fixed. I had mine replaced twice so it was never diagnosed. So no idea

Transmission was never diagnosed... can't reach the mechanic that I managed to replicate the problem to. Its really annoying.

Did they replace the transmission twice because of the same problem? How did you manage this? Which dealership?

same transmission problem here, very annoying, as you let it decelerate in gear it feels as if something is grinding, i figure its normal on Z's, never happened on my S2000 but of course that was a smaller transmission and a lot less torque, the clicking sounds is definitely the rear axle as mentioned above

Search on "rear clicking" and you'll discover that there is a dealer TSB (TSB: NTB04-065b). Point this out to your dealer. http://www.notre350z.com/forum/files...ClickClack.pdf

The tranny vibration could be that your driveshaft is out of balance, or some driveline component is bent or loose. An expert will put it on a lift and with the driveline engaged, will try and see if it something is obvious. Out of balance or loose clutch and transmission vibrations are very hard to identify. Unfortunately, replacing items one by one until the vibration disappears is a final stategy.

I have had the same problem with my radio, and had it replaced 3 times. They are basically crap.
