Thumbs down Throttle or MAF problem.

So today is me and my girlfriends 1 year 11 month and i was rushing to replace a crappy gasket underneath my kinetix plenum, i forgot to buy threadlock so i had to run to autozone and grab some and i saw maf sensor cleaner and throttle body cleaner and i remember a guy with a g35 posting a vid on youtube so i bought some. Got home finished putting my plenum backtogether and i cleaned my throttle body like the guy on youtube and i sprayed my maf sensor ( not the plug area; just the sensor ). SOOO i double checked everything and i started the car to go to dinner and a lound sound sounding like a dying baby came to life. So i immediately shut my car off and checked again finding my throttle cable wasnt plugged in, so now im freaking out and i try it again but the sound is still there and it scared the sh** out of me everytime. Any suggestions before i tow my car in the shop?

i honestly think i ruined my throttle but im hoping its not my maf sensor.

Any suggestions ?

Let fuel evaporate to prevent the backfires. While you are at it: Unplug battery. Plug it back in after sitting overnight. Do TPS and idle air relearn procedure as specified in the FSM (it's been posted if you search for it).

Between the 1 year 11 month anniversary and the dead baby coming to life, I really have to say that was an entertaining post.

Did the car pop a CEL? Resetting the ECU should help.

Like others have said, there's a throttle body reset procedure lying around here somewhere. I seriously doubt it if you broke something...

Well this morning i let the car sit with the battery unplugged over night and tried it again this morning, the problem is still there. I would do throttle idle relearn but its VERY loud and i know its not a good sound i want my car to warm up to. I will try to take a video of what the sound is because its something ive never heard before.... i wasnt lying it sounds like a dying baby, or a small child screaming. very disturbing haha.

I will try to check today for a CEL, i have been busy trying to figure if the sound was coming from the throttle or maf sensor.

I couldn't explain the sound haha.

Any codes? did you take the maf sensor out and cleaned it? If you did, did you put it back the same way?

Check under the car for a baby... you may have driven over one and its attached and it only starts crying when the headers warm up and it burns its hands as its holding on to them....

Sorry cant help on this but waiting for info as I was going to clean mine and its stopped me doing so!

Yes the MAF sensor is cleaned and put in the right way. As for the codes im not sure because i took it apart again and replacing it with extra caution and im waiting on another plenum gasket and throttle gasket. I will start it again and let you know if any codes are thrown.

Lol, no baby. If there was it has road rash because my cars pretty low haha.

as for just cleaning the MAF sensor you should be good to go. Im more then 100 percent positive its my throttle making a whistling noise because the throttle isnt opening and airs squeezing past the throttle plate creating a "baby cry". Just a guess, but its my fault for forgetting to plug it in.

Yes, unfortunately. i touched it to clean the sides of the throttle plate. I cant see that forum and i dont feel like joining haha... anyone know where i can get a less expensive throttle body. Performance nissan .com said 500 dollars, and google says 100.

anyone know the difference between the hitachi throttle compared to the non-hitachi throttle?

Not the throttle. Just replaced it today and its still running psycho. My only guess is the MAF sensor... hoping not though.

Some of the symptoms include as follows:
Turn car on
car revs to 3000 rpm and drops real fast while bouncing on and off.
but i noticed if i rev the car up to about 2500 the revs become more clean and if i keep it on long enough the check engine light comes on. Any ideas?

It sounds to me like a plenum leak. That sound is common for a plenum leak.

Run your hand along the entire circumference of the plenum sealing surface. If you hear a change in sound as you run your hand over a particular area, you found your leak.

Woah, that sounds right because the gasket that was on it before was a cork gasket and when i bought the new one it was more of a black hard plastic with bumps on it. I tightened the bolt down just now but im not starting it until tomorrow morning because everybody's sleeping. Thanks though dude ill tell you if it works out tomorrow !
