Default How is your idle ?

Hey guys! I currently own a 350z and ever since I took ownership of this new car then idle has never appeared smooth. On a cold start it cranks fine, but during the warmup process the idle appears to jump slightly. After its warm the idle does not seem new car smooth. In the past my parents have owned nissans/infiniti's and their idles have never been like my 350 (even with more that 50,000 miles). I know this is a sports car but how is your idle. Should I call my car in for a service? Thanks in advance.

James

My idle is smooth enough that I've never noticed it. I've also driven a Ford Ranger 4.0, Nissan Altima 2.5, Dodge Dakota 4.7, and Toyota Paseo and the Z is as smooth as any of those.

I think I noticed it stumble once, but that's it (20,000 miles so far)

It will start out a about 1500 RPM, and then move down to just about 750 when it warms up. Mine seems to stay right on the line most of the time. A little higher when I turn on the A/C.

I too have wonderd about this and brought it to the attention of my local dealer. They stated it was normal, however I disagree with them.

I have noticed the idle problem on hot humid days? how about you?

Alot of ppl including myself have installed a simple grounding kit and it has significantly smoothed our idle. I would highly recommend it.

When the AC is on, it is slightly higher than normal idle but smooth. With the AC off mine slightly jumps around.

I did not notice it before, but when I put on my custom made grounding kit it was SMOOTH...for about 3 days. Then one day it starts to jump around quite a bit. Hmmm???

I am going to disconnect the battery ground and see if it changes.

I have a Grounding Kit and it greatly helps the lumpy idle. My idle is now nice an smooth.
