Default Some Baseline Oil Temp readings....

since the twin snails are out and on the way to japan for production, my oil temp gauge is still setup, so i decided to gather some data for those interested...

took a long drive ~ 60 minutes, and gathered oil temp readings throughout the drive and rpm/gears

here's what i came up with... please compare it to your oil temps if you have a gauge...

Ambient temp ranged from 70 degrees F when i started at an altitude of around 600 ASL to 2500 ASL and 82 degrees F when i ended..

Time Gear Rpm Oil Temp (*C)
1:00-5:00 3 3500 70
5:01-15:00 6 2000 80
15:01-40:00 6 3000 90

(Started the altitude climb ~35:00)

40:01-45:00 5 4000 95
45:01-47:00 4 5000 100
47:01-60:00 6 3000 90
60:01-65:00 Neutral 600 88

i will be doing some more Oil Temp readings when i take my Z (which i got back.. heh) on a 350mile trip to NorCal....

weeee.. data is fun!

Enthuz-
tapped in an oil temp gauge- thats how....

some more interesting temps on my 330 mile / 4.5 hour trip to norcal tonite.
i saw it all.. high temp (101F all the way to 61F ambient temp!! Desert->Coastal)

Time RPM GEAR OIL TEMP (C) AMBIENT TEMP (F)
0:00-0:45 3500 6 95 101

(windy roads up to bakersfield)

0:45-1:30 3500 6 100 101

(long straight aways on HWY 5, with intermittent down shifts to 4th to pass cars at 100mph+)

1:30-3:00 3000 6 95 86

(after stopping for an hour for dinner, continued on HWY 5)

3:01-4:00 2500 6 85 64

(rapid temperature drop after the sunset, now fairly close to sea level ~500ft ASL, and very cold outside

4:00-4:15 4000 4 88 61

(decided to rev around town hard to see if the cooler temps would mean anything for the oil, not really)

4:15- 4:30 3500 3 85 60

(slow drive on windy mtn road)

4:30-4:34 600 Neutral 85 61
(cooling down)

looks like average operating temperature is around the 85-90C mark, only when running the car hard did i get it to go past 100C.

on another interesting note:

my Average Gas Mileage was 33.2 MPG i love you ecu!

33.2 MPG and you are contributing it to the TS ECU??? That is a HUGE gain for just adjusting the fuel map a little bit, please explain!!!
