I'm going with the Jun flywheel (my trans is getting replaced soon) both the Jun and JWT weight the same (almost) I tried to get some real tests in the forum (like dyno or 1/4 times) but nobody has done it yet. The only source of info was actually a magazine (don't remember witch) that went before and after the install to the track I think it was:
before 14.0@99mph and after was 14.2@101mph.

They blamed the wheelspin to the lesser times, but it did increase the traps...
Maybe you could do something more accurate...

OK, had it in for a couple of weeks now. No clutch chatter at all. 1st and 2nd gear go by much quicker. There is the noise below 2500 rpms. Best way I can describe the noise is that it sounds like you have a bunch of sand in your tranny. That was expected after reading the SCC article and realizing you lose the damping factor of the stock dual mass flywheel. The noise has lessened though over the 2 week period.

Strange thing is, I got this to allow the revs to come up faster on H/T downshifts when I blip the throttle, but now there is so little engine braking, you really don't need to H/T at all to downshift without lurching.

Gonna order the Cusco RS 1.5way LSD from Z1 performance on Monday. Ordered the rollbar already and that should come in about 3 weeks. Getting the Sparco Evo 2 seat. I think I am gonna go with the Team Tech harnesses instead of the Willans. I am also awaiting dwnshifts response on how much negative camber his front bushings will allow me to dial in. My race car is slowly coming together nicely. Can't wait for my 2 day event in October.

The Best Flywheel on the market would be the RPS Billet Flywheel , but it's not available for the Z33 Yet, only for the Z32. It's a Billet 4-Segmented Flywheel designed especially for 6-puck clutches. 6-puck clutches usually cause regular flywheels to warp, thus you have to replace their fiction surface. So the JWT Flywheel wouldn't be a good idea for any Puck Clutches. But for a regular non-puck clutch, the JWT (Fidanza) is the ideal flywheel.

The Jun Flywheel is ok; we haven't had the best luck with it in the Z32 market, mainly because of hot spots. The Jun flywheel won't warp, but because it's so thin (heats up quicker), it will cause hot spots too occur and will cause your clutch to slip. Thus, it will wear out your clutch sooner.

Best Flywheel for the money: JWT (Fidanza)
Best Flywheel over all: RPS

Is this noise from the flywheel allowing the crankshaft to vibrate? Can this hurt the engine?

From the reviews I've read the JWT and JUN are streetable, anything lighter might not be, like the rally style clutches, that are 8 lbs.

Anything less than 14 lbs really isn't necessary for the street. Same with a six puck clutch, having an 8 lb or even an 11lb flywheel will just cause too much problems, especially when you're in rush hour traffic.

Coz, I've had the JUN flywheel since May and put about 4000 miles on it and I have not had any problems whatsoever with clutch slippage. It's really a work of art.

Regardless of which flywheel you go with, any one of them are very reputable and dependable. And all are available WAY below the price of Nissan's own price robbing dual mask flywheel. It still tickles me that a Brown and Brown Nissan service rep had told me that I couldn't find any other flywheel cheaper than Nissan's. Well, he no longer works for them, and while I don't fully subscribe to the notion that the customer is always right, in that instance I definitely was right.

Also, in regards to the vibrations, I wouldn't worry about that too much. I asked the guys over at Intense Motorsport and they had informed me that the vibration happens because the flywheel is lighter and thinner; the stock flywheels actually acts as a dampener of sorts that prevents this rattling from occurring. Many Supra owners have the same problem with putting on the flywheels. Like I said, I've put about 4000 miles on the flywheel and have had no drivetrain problems.

You only get the noise at low RPM in 1st and 2nd gear. At higher RPMs, it actually feels smoother with much less shifter vibration and it feels smoother while cruising in top gear. The fact that it's more speed related than RPM related leaves me to believe that most of the noise is coming from the driveshaft vibrating slightly and not the engine. I am not worried about it one bit.

As to how loud it is, if you have your fan half way up, you can't hear it.

Really?, Jeez, that's great, I was going to go with the Nismo in the hopes of getting less of "it sounds like you have a bunch of sand in your tranny" That's not the kind of sound someone is gonna want to hear if I ever want to sell my car and they test drive it, that's what worries me. Well, I have to wonder if the Nismo's noise level is lower, god I'd think so given it's higher weight.

Well, so far I am having no problems. If my driveshaft falls out, well, I guess I'll be carless for a while, and my wife will have my ***.

Anyway, the jun flywheel is very compatible with any aftermarket clutch.

cbsuper, do you have the "bunch of sand in your tranny" noise that raceboy describes with his JWT flywheel?

Thanks,
Victor
