I was thinking about going from synthetic back to regular oil but i was reading that synthetic makes a bond on moving parts that doesn't blend with regular oil, is there anything i should use to flush out the sythetic oil before puting in the regular oil again?
its actually a friend of mine that wants to do the switch because his engine is burning oil so since regular oil is thicker he figured it will burn less
Hey guys i was wondering would it be worth it to switch from reg to synthetic. I have 42000 miles. Ive heard that with this many miles it wouldnt be worth it but the person me that talks too much and i cant tell when he is blowin smoke or tellin me the truth.
there is a oil cleaning addative that you put in run your engine for a like 10 mins then drain before you put in your new oil, but on old engines theres parts that are kinda held together by old oil. that could lead to blowing up your engine so id say just stick to synthetic.
Talk to a mec before trying this because i may be wrong, ive never used these products so this is just word of mouth.

Old wifes tale as you can switch between synthetic and dino anytime you like.
Silly question. Why doesn't your friend find out why the engine is burning oil? Viscosity rating tells your oil "thickness". Not whether it's synthetic or not.
Is it really burning oil, or just leaking? Does he have an '06 that might have the oil consumption issue?
