This is stupid, three guys have burned their engines because the cars were running too lean. This didnt need to happen! Why isnt there a piggyback ECU that can maintain a perfect air/fuel mixture? These fuel maps dont make sense. conditions change, and the computer should be making the descisions instead of us moving sliders to a set position and always having the same amount of gas sprayed into the intake.
What if you live in Colorado and want to drive to Cali? You drive down hill and before you know it you are running lean because of the density change.
How hard is it. Factory turbos dont run lean and blow up all the time. I assume their ECUs keep a tight reign on the mixture. I was considering FI but I dont want to mod my car and have an ecu that cant add fuel by itself if the car starts to run lean. I wont even enjoy driving My Z if i am always looking at the EGT gauge waiting for my rings to fry.
I am not the most educated person on the subject of Forced induction so can someone explain this problem to me?
I really want an FI daily driver that will last without adjusting a freaking mixture all the time.

its alot harder than most people think..
i'm not sure how the piggy back ppl are doing it (ala SMT6) but the Technos guys are changing the injector flow rate(s) manually in my ecu program to accomodate the bigger injectors and messing with the a/f ratios.. and in conjunction with dyno tuning they know how much timing to add/subtract to keep the engine 'managable'... so nothing pops...
i dont think you have to be afraid of boost, just know what your options are...
technos has yet to see an ATI Supercharged Z, they were supposed to have a custom take their car in last month but nothing materialized...... i'm sure they would like to help those out with fuel problems or concerns with their FMU...
