Transmission issues
Some times during the day my 1st and 2nd gear get really hard to engage, it feels like something is stoping me to put this 2 gears... I have to press the clutch and go trough all 6 gears and then when i try 1st or second again they go in smooth .... is this normal??? i have a base 04... Thanks
nop im in Florida hot weather.. it usually happens driving around the city... and i can be driving for about 30 minutesa and it happens so its not cold... umm and just with 1st and nd but if while im not moving i go from 1->2->3>4>5>6 and then i rty 1st it goes in smooth for few minutes and then after a while i have to do it the same thing again because it keeps getting harder.. it will go in but its kind of hard its like something its stoping it
Good rule of thumb.Get in the habit of pulling it into 2nd and then into 1st,even from neutral and you are just pushing the clutch pedal.Even with the clutch disengaged, the input shaft will still turn a bit. This makes it tough for the 1st syncro to "catch the shaft"Pulling it into 2nd and then into 1st brings the mainshaft up to speed with the input and makes 1st a snap to get in. If the problem is worse that this, then you have a problem with the pilot bearing or clutch.

umm i mean it will go to first and it will work good good the problem is getting it to get to first like between first and neutral there is like a litle force that needs to be aplied to get it in...
I'm aware of the fact that some will react with hostility, but I don't care: Contrary to most other auto makes, Nissan's ATs are much, much better than their MTs. I also know that most of you young ones actually prefer MTs; when you get sick'n'tired of all that clunkiness in your MTs, f-l-a-w-l-e-s-s NIssan ATs are waiting for you--especially the CVTs!!!
First gear takes a half-second for the syncro to work. Be easy on it. You shouldn't be shifting into first anywhere but from a dead stop. Second gear will handle anything else.
The transmission is notchy by nature. If you feel yours might be out of the ordinary, go to the dealership and test drive another manual to see if it works the same as yours.
Transmission "Feel" is very difficult to diagnose without being in the car and feeling it firsthand.
