That accidental "dry shot " sounds a little scary, witou the commensurate fuel squirt sounds like lean time-bomb waiting to blow a piston, ring or head gasket.
Firstly, he said that he was using an intercooler sprayer, not a dry shot, so the nitrous wouldn't come within three feet of his engine (exageration) and secondly, even if he had sent nitrous into his plenum without fuel being compensated (by the ECU no less) his car would lean out from too much air, not explode like a time-bomb. Please read the first two posts of the big bad nitrous post, for your own good.

Well I said it was effectively a dry shot. Actually the air filter is less than 12 inches away from the intercooler sprayer with the ati setup. It emptied the bottle of N20 in about 20 seconds. You can imagine how much N20 that was coming out of the sprayer setup. The engine did compensate enough, as he was still running in the mid to high 12 range on A/F while firing the intercooler sprayer. He gained about 70 hp when he fired the N2O cooler. Had this been CO2 I would expect maybe 5 hp.

It was exciting, but needless to say, he will not be doing this again. CO2 from now on!

Oh yeah, 7lb pulley making 7lbs at redline

Default CO2 spray

Eskimo I understood VandyZ's post. I am no novice to FI and tuning. The reason I brought the question up is because a buddy of mine a few years back did the same thing with his RX7 at the drags and Kaboom, he blew his Apex seals. The point being it definately can be dangerous to spray N2O rather than CO2 onto the intercooler if the Intake inlet is in close proximity. In this RX7 story , the ECU did not compensate enough and wham, huge lean burn state. It only takes a few seconds of lean burn -> detonation under full boost to pop a piston, ring or gasket.

But if anyone wants a "one-trick poney" , more power to them.

That's a good point, I didn't even think about the fact that once it sprayed onto the intercooler it could still make it into the intake inlet. Definatlly shows how experience supplants "book smarts." Sorry, I jumped the gun on that one, you know how some people are around here. I just didn't catch what you were fully saying at first.
