Default Question Regarding Overheating

Hey guys...I just started driving my car after 2 months and I drove a block and the car overheated. I figure one of the pipes might be cracked but apparently not cuz the resevoir tank was way above max when hot and some of that was spilling over. I figured the car might have been overfilled with coolant. Could that cause the car to get overheated?

Also...After the car cooled down, all of the resevoir tank got empty again...

Did anyone run into this problem? or have any solution to this problem.

Btw...the car is TT

Thank you

Air in your coolant system could be a possibility.

When your coolant starts coming out of the reservoir, it's usually a bad sign...especially if you overheat. The spilling over is caused by blow-by, which usually means a blown head gasket. Did your car have any overheating issues before this? Check your thermostat as well, it could be stuck closed which could also build pressure. Good luck!

I just got the Pressure check at the local mechanic and he said there are no leaks and the pressure holds up fine. He said that the fan is not turning on...and thats what causing the overheating.

He said it is prob electrical...is that a big deal or just a little computer problem that could be fixed?

Thank you!

Can the relay be changed at home or need to be taken to the shop

Also..I have to take it to forged...I live like 30 miles away...if I blast the heater, can i drive it there if I keep the rpm under 3000...or should I just be better off towing it ther?
