clutch flywheel and tranni got replace less that 5,000 miles ago under warranty or recall or something. But after running the car hard for maybe 20 minutes I have this rather loud whining noise. Almost like there's a supercharger in there. No, it's not supercharged. The whine only happens when the clutch is engaged. Push the clutch pedal in and there's no noise. When driving the pitch of the noise grows as I accelerate through the gears. Any ideas?

awesome, but to answer your ? im getting a similar issue now. My tranny was replaced in 06, my clutch wines and feels weak squeeks and some other wierd noises too. Getting it looked at tuesday
To the OP.....
The whirring noise is exactly what i heard before my first, and second tranny started the grinding thing, which led to a new tranny. It'd be a safe bet that the new tranny is on it's way out the door too. I'm on my third one (including my origional one). My second tranny (which was my first new one) crapped out in 3,000 miles!! And that's with grandma driving on the weekends!! AND it was a CD009. My point is, just because it's new doesn't mean it's gonna work. Many of the "new" trannys, are ones that have died, that Nissan rebuilt and package as new.
They way it was explained to me is that the "whirring" noise is the pieces of your synchros floating in the fluid. When your clutch is engaged (foot off the pedal) you input shaft is spinning inside your tranny, and "whipping" those shavings around, thus making noise.
Eventually it will start making the noise during normal driving. Mine got to the point that it sounded like a jet engine before i had my 2nd tranny replaced.
Go back to the dealer, even if you are out of warranty, there is still a warranty that covers the tranny they just replaced. I think it's one year 12,000 miles.
