Oil Change Frequency
I am sure this is posted somewhere else, but I wanted to warn people what dealers are doing with the folks that have the 5 years of free oil changes.
I am sure we paid for the 5 years in our contract somewhere, but here is what happened to me during my 1st oil change.
I had 800 miles on my car, and the 3 months passed on 11 Sep 03. On 13 Sep, I went to the dealer and got my oil changed. I inquired if it was free and the service tech advised me I have 5 years of free oil changes and yes, it was free.
When I was ready to pick up my car, the Service Manager said I owed them $27.90 for the oil change. He said I did not hit the 3750 miles that my scheduled maintanance says and therefore owe them for the oil change. I was like wtf, I paid for the dang 5 years, mileage should not matter, should it? He said I have to wait 3750 miles for it to be free.
Luckily, I had checked the maintance schedule before hand, and it stated "3750 miles OR 3 months. So, I had to shove it in the Service Managers face for him to give it to me for free. He kinda shrugged and said okay, its free then.
I am just wanting to warn those folks that got the free oil changes of what dealers will do to get an extra buck.
I myself only put about 1000 miles every 4 months, so since they are free, I am changing my oil regardless of the miles. If they wern't doing it, then I would wait another month or so.
Just thought I would point the free oil change dilemma I faced.

It is true that it's 3750 or 3 months, but I don't think most people think about it in months becuase 99.9% of the driving public drives more than 900 miles in three months.
