Default Engine ticking?

I have a very funny noise coming from my Z sounds like the valves are ticking. I thought it was my headers at first because the had a small crack in them but I have got them fixed and I still hear this ticking coming from inside the plenium. maybe a valve? does anyome else have this problem?

i have the ticking also, and was told at first that a "valve adjustment" would need to be done electronically(i think they were bs'ing and being too lazy to perform the procedure. Then from another Nissan Dealer i was told that the valves in the Z should "NEVER TICK" as they are designed not to do so, and if they are, then someone must have taken the heads off to perform repairs. so either way i have learned to live with it, really only noticeable on startup in warmer days.

The "ticking" is most likely the timing chain tensioner guides wearing away. If you have low oil the chain will rub on the guides wearing the plastic away and causes a the ticking.

Should be covered under warranty if you can get the dealer to acknowledge it. Also check your oil to make sure you are consuming more than a 1 qt per 1000 miles

The ticking is at a constant rate, when RPM's increase, the speed of the ticking increases as well.
