Clutch is gone, what to do now?
I burned out my clutch today, i noticed the power loss over the last couple of days. I'm at 38k miles and while headed to work it just died as soon as i went on a hill 1 block away from where i was parking.
I'm not bringing it to nissan. I seen a couple of threads where people stated Nissan wanted $2000-2600. I'm taking it to another shop Monday morning. Well obviously I don't know what I actually need repaired yet but can you guys give me some websites where I can order a good clutch kit. Or instead of getting the OEM clutch kit what other brand should i order thats not too pricey but just as good or better than the OEM.
Any kind of advice would help or if you can direct to another thread that has this information I would appreciate it.

Do you ride the clutch alot?
What are you future plans for the car as far as power?
Are you willing to sacrifice driveability for holding power?
also, ive got an oem clutch, slightly used like 1k miles, new pressure plate and new release bearing...150shipped to NY if youre interested.

right about now I'm not doing anything with the car as far as power.
I did ride the clutch a lot when i first got the car but now that I'm used to it I'm fine. sorry I was looking to buy a brand new clutch no offense but If I burn out my clutch again i rather it be my fault. I got my car used so I don't know how bad of a driver the previous owner was.

Double check with the shop that they will install equipment you bring in. I have dealt with places in the past that either would not do it, or would not offer much of a warranty because they can not guarantee the part.

There's a decent chance you may need to replace the flywheel as well. You may want to start considering whether or not you're willing to live with the rattling sound associated with lightweight flywheels, and if so, start looking into those too.

Just learn how to do it yourself
I run the JWT, only downside is tranny chatter below 2k. Well worth the improvement in shift feel and throttle response.
I would budget for a clutch/flywheel combo if I were you. If the clutch went at 38k there is a good chance the flywheel has significant burn marks and possibly scoring.

I think if you're replacing both the flywheel and clutch with aftermarket stuff there's a good chance you'll break the warranty, even if Nissan installs it. The stock dual mass flywheel runs about $1000 - $1500, from what I've seen. Plus the clutch and install, you're looking at maybe $2500 for a stock set up? Assuming your flywheel is shot, which it might be. However, your warranty is retained. (Note: there is no warranty on clutches).
You'll probably end up saving possibly a $1000 for purchasing aftermarket parts and installing it elsewhere. But, warranty may be gone.
