while im no expert...engine components are made to very small tolerances straight out of the factory.

so i doubt re balancing even a very old motor would net any gains.

Default Color me highly skeptical

Balance & blueprinting was a standard thing to do to Detroit V-8's to compensate for 1950's manufacturing technologies. I call caca de toro that my smooth VQ35HR engine has 64 hp just waiting to be unlocked by B&B on it.

It didn't help the crappy old detroit iron "in the good old days" that much and these engines are a technical master piece compared to them.

The term refers to building the engine, balanced and blueprinted means that the engine has been balanced before assembly and that it was planned out from the start and not thrown together. There is no power gain from this term, it's merely a stage in building an engine.

In addition to everything being balanced, most builders will check the piston to wall, bearing to crank and other clearances as well to make sure they are all the same (or very close, like w/in .001"). To add to this, when compared to a non B&B engine, it will run smoother and should be dead even across all cylinders. Not all builders B&B engines because it is additional time, but it is def worth the additional time when trying to squeek the last bit of power out of a setup.

Anyone who fails to check piston to wall, ring end gap, and bearing clearances when building a motor has no business building a motor in the first place. Those are basic fundmentals of a rebuild.

Oh, as in what a 2 year old might say..."caca doo doo"?

Because we're too bashful to say BS or Bullsh!t or Bullsh** more directly.

You are correct, however a lot of people that "build" engines don't do those things so I figured it could not hurt to put it out there.
