Default Will the CD009 tranny fit an 03 Z???

My tranny, along with my motor, might be shot. I can get a CD009 for cost (don't ask) but need to know if it is a direct bolt up to the 03 Z. Any help out there?

Yes, I had a CD009 put on my 2003 350Z under warranty. Your Nissan parts guy can verify this.

Can they hold more power or smoother at shifting. Whats its advantage over the other trannies.

I think the prior trannies the gears were becoming seperated.. i know one guy from PR said he was opening it up and welding the gears...

this thread might shed more light on the subject

Really don't think its either of those. Oh ya , my stock 03 trans shifter so much better than my 009

yeah it was never a problem if the trannies could hold power.. they can hold power just fine.. just that the gears seperated on the pre-009 ... it took nissan 9 revisions to figure out the problem with the transmission.. other than that they hold power just fine.. the tricky problem was always from 4th to 5th..

That's not entirely true. The 03 and early 04 installed tranmissions used a longer clutch fork pivot ball and a different clutch fork. If you swap a CD009 trans for one of the early ones you'll need to swap the pivot ball from the old trans if you don't have the clutch fork for the new trans.

Furthermore the revisions were mostly all snychro revisions. I think the only non-synchro revision was when they switched 5th gear from a braised on engagement ring to a beam welded engagement ring.

Have you seen a 3rd gear out of a CD009 trans to confirm that it is no longer braised?

Just an FYI guys...not all the early revision transmissions are crap. I picked up a CD003 trans for CHEAP out of a wrecked 03 with 59K miles as my back-up trans while I'm doing my build-up on my 008 and it shifts like BUTTER. I'm really impressed with it. Has been holding the power just fine too...

I bought my 03 in august of 08 and i am experiencing the 3rd gear grind. since it is used would it still be covered under warranty? I know i should probably already know this, but i don't have the paper work when i got it and i'm not sure if it is covered. any help would be appreciated
