The drivetrain warranty is 5 years, 60,000 miles. An 03, unless it was a dealer demo or sold in late 04 would most likely be out of it's drivetrain warranty.

darn, so there is no hope for me but to buy a new tranny =( wait til tax returns i guess, lol. Was there a TSB for it (technical service bulletin) for the 03 trannies? i'm not too sure what that means, and correct me if im wrong, but would that tsb allow me to take my car to a dealership and have them replace the tranny for the reason stated in the tsb

It's a known issue at any dealership. Maybe you can get your dealer to do a "good faith" warranty on it. You can pick up used transmissions pretty cheap from scrap yards these days. I might suggest going that route and have an indi do it if you're strapped for cash. Swapping the trans in this car is a piece of cake.

A good faith warranty? What's that? I don't know of any junk yards around here. What's an indi, are you talking about those maintenance specific places(i.e. shocks and alignment shops/tire/brake shops) and stuff like that? Would a tranny swap be pretty DIY-able?

Sometimes car dealers will cover failures under warranty shortly after the warranty period has expired as a show of "good faith" that you will give them business in the future. Indi is an independent mechanic.

A tranny swap really isn't all that hard if you have tools and some experience wrenching on a car. If you haven't done much in a engine bay before, it might be a little over your head...

Cool thanks man. I'm gonna try and see what they tell me. I hope they will, that would help me a bunch! yeah I kinda thought that's what Indi was.

Well I don't have very much experience on cars, and when you say engine bay are you talking like replacing a blown head gasket and stuff? If so, then no, lol, but plenum spacer, spark plugs, oil change, intake, that kinda stuff I do on my own. I'm sure if I found someone with experience they could help me =) I really would like to know how to do everything on my own. Even install my Vortech when I get it later down the road but that is a daunting task I'm sure, lol. thanks for you help "turbo *****" lol
