How much have you spent to achieve...xxhp?
I am looking at buying a bone stock 2005 350z, and I am interested in getting about 350-370 whp out of either a supercharged or turbo setup. With that in mind...I am curious what you guys have spent on your cars to reach your current horsepower number...Lets see if we can get these basic questions answered-

if that is your hp goal and you are certain you won't get the hunger for more power, I'd go for a vortech sc setup. you can get that kind of power safely on a stock block pretty easily and fairly cheap compared to a lot of set ups. I am just going by what I've read on the forums, though, so definitely hear out more responses.
I would estimate that if you were to buy new, didn't do any of the labor yourself and got it fully tuned you'd be looking at 8-10 grand. there are many ways to cut costs in labor and parts (used/new etc), there are a myriad of factors to consider.
I'd pick SC over a turbo setup at that lower power level.

listen to that advice.
400whp is achievable on the stock block.
your mod list should include
brakes
wheels tires
suspension
drivetrain (LSD, clutch)
engine (tuning, fuel, turbo kit, etc)
gauges
so it won't be cheap. why don't you tell people YOUR budget instead.

No, I would not call you crazy. There are other car models out there that I am contemplating. Also, I am looking at an allready tubod 350z vs doing it myself cost comparison. i know it will be cheaper to do buy a 350 turboed, but the risk is higher of getting a problem vehicle.
My contimplation is this...
If I want around 350whp in a 350z, I dont want to have to put $30k into the car (car price plus mods) because I could get a c6 corvette that allready has 400 crank hp for $26-$32k. So if I can save a bit of money and get similar hp with the 350, I will go that route. If not, Im going with the Corvette c6.

Meh c6 are a dime a dozen though... I prefer the less popular route with a turbo z. Spent 6200 so far and haven't even installed my powerlab kit yet lol. So yes expensive.
well f/i in this car isnt cheap at all, but it is fairly easy to do on a limited budget, just search the classifieds, theres always good deals. but honestly imo, c6 > z anyday. ls series motors are godly.
