I searched quite a bit and found only one thread that talked about the question and the thread never got an answer.

I am looking into getting a Z and really wanted a 2005 and up but came across one in locally for sale which was an 03. Main reason I was not interested in the 03-04 was because of the weak factory synchros and the window motor issues.

I called the owner to come take a look at the car and he told me the transmission was replaced as well as the clutch with a 2007 Nismo transmission and Nismo clutch after he had a second gear grind. He showed me a work order from the Nissan dealer showing the replacement of the transmission.

From the test drive I could deffinately tell a difference in the clutch (compared to another Z I test drove last week) but I was really curious about the 2007 Transmission in an 03 and if that is even possible.

After doing some research I found that the Nismo uses the same transmission as a normal HR Z. I know the transmission is different from 07- but I really want to know if they are compatible or if the dealer told him it was an 07 tranny and really something else.

When you say Nismo transmission, are you talking about a transmission from the Nismo edition 350Z? or a as in Nismo S-tune/R-tune Transmission? Cuz the later is not made.

The transmission is compatible with all years, it was revised throughout the years though.

 

He said "2007 Nismo Transmission" I'm pretty sure its just the trans that comes in the 2007 Nismo but I thought the US spec Nismo used the same transmission as any other manual 2007 Z?
