Angry cracks on engine belt

I took my car in for an oil change and the mechanic found one of the belts has cracks. He said it needs to be changed but still good for couple of thousand miles. Should i be worried about this and get replaced asap? i have an 06 w/ 35k miles

Just replace it. Belt are not expensive and are super easy to do yourself.

After you get the bottom part off, the rest is easy

2 hours?!?!?! Damn son. lol

What most people dont know about belt tensionors, is you always gotta loosen the center nut before the adjustment bolt so it moves freely and then tighten it backup in reverse order.

I changed mine a couple of months ago. I've never tried to work on any car myself, and I found this to be easy to do. The hardest part was getting the car on jack stands using the stupid scissor jack. And yes, replace both. Chances are if one is cracked, the other one is too, or will be soon enough. The DIY on here is what I used to get me going.

Time for new belts, i replaced mine a year ago and my AC belt is bad again. The underhood heat of the VQ just kills belts.

I'll remember that for future mods... I'm about 2 hours from Cheshire.

The labor for the belts was like $60, and they go through everything and check/fill fluids. It's a trusted shop I've always used. If I had the time, I would have just done it myself.
