2nd gear grind after long trip
I just drove a 500 mile trip in my Z yesterday at a constant speed of about 80 mph with no stop and go traffic. After I got to my location as i was pulling off the off ramp and went from 1st to 2nd and it grinded! It has never did this ever. Every once in a while it grinded going in 3rd and hard rpms. Does anyone have a clue really what the cause of this is and maybe a fix?
I thought maybe my trans was just hot from long trip, I started it this morning "cold" and it still does the same thing.
Thanks for your time in advance.

Yes, 100% postive! I have had this car 2.5 years and have never had an issue like this. Only way I can get it to go in 2nd is if I slow the car down to just sligh roll less than 5mph and then it will take 2nd. But anything else it grinds like crazy. I had to drive it back home going from 1st to 3rd and it changes just fine along with all of the other gears. I cheacked the fluid level and it at the normal spot.
Only other way to get in 2nd is to be at complete stop and put it in 2nd and start off in that gear and go to 3rd.

How old is the fluid?
I recently changed the fluid in mine and it made a HUGE difference in how smooth the car shifted. It had a tendency to slightly grind and its gone now. Perhaps spending a few bucks trying that and bleeding the clutch line would do wonders for you.

I have been told but several locals that they think its a syncro and they are telling me it would probabaly be cheaper just to buy a used/new trans and put in then fixing this one... is this correct?!?!?
