Default LSD for Base

From the searches I have done it seems the Quaife and Nismo are the only direct drop in replacements for the base open diff.

Are there any others?

I also read that the nismo isn't available anymore. I want to do the work myself and want to keep cost down so just a drop in replacement would be best.

Those are the easiest install since they are drop in ready for a base...

i wouldnt base an lsd purchase on how easy or hard it is to install. i would base it on use and purpose for purchasing lsd.......ie. track, drifting, autox, etc.. I see you have done quite a bit in modding to the car? There a track reason for all of that?

Buy a lsd diff, the whole pumpkin out of a junk yard. Mine cost me about 300$ shipped. Takes about an hour or two to swap it out. It bolts right in. When the lsd wears out ill get another junk yard diff haha.

I'm having traction issues on the street. Ran 4 1/4 mile passes and it seemed like I had less traction then on the street. I eventually want to do autox. So, I guess I would be looking for something that is a good balance for all.

I've been running the new nitto nt05 for a week and still didn't help.

thought about doing that, but I need something that will perform well and get my power to the ground. Just not sure the VLSD will take the abuse

Is the nismo good for straight line traction? I don't like what the quaife does with 1 tire in the air. LOL I have a difficult time getting in my driveway as it is. I'm gonna see if I can find a new nismo. For the Money and install for the base it seems like a good choice. My car is so loud anyway I don't care if the diff is noisy.

Just wanted to say that I bought the Quaife and absolutely love it, however, I do have a FWD car that I bought it for. My stocker was a pos.

I got the KAAZ for my base Z, no additional parts just get the lsd and put the bad boy in.

You cannot just buy the KAAZ LSD or ANY clutch type lsd and install with no additional parts, it is physically impossible. Please stop spreading misinformation that will cost other member's downtime when they discover the truth in the middle of a install. The only direct fit for a base open diff equipped Z is the Quaife.

^The Kaaz 2 way rear LSD for the 350Z and G35 is a cost effective upgrade for the stock viscous, for people into drifting. The 2 way action means it stays locked under acceleration and deceleration, making it easier to hang the tail of the car out. This differential is intended as a drop in replacement for manual transmission cars with factory VLSD. If your car does not have a factory VLSD, we also offer a package that includes all the extra parts required for a direct installation.
