Hi. I have a 2008 350z automatic transmission. When I was using the manual mode, the shift from the 2nd to 3nd gear is not smooth. It will jump a little bit. The automatic mode never has this problem. I normally shift from 2nd to 3nd at 20mi. If I shift at a little higher speed (like 25mi) it will be a lot smoother.
When it is in auto mode, the transmission transfer to 3rd gear at 20mi as well (or even a little lower). So I don't think I shift at a wrong speed.
Do you guys know if this is a known problem? What should I do to make the shift smooth?
Thanks.

I got this too ..
I've installed valve body upgrades in trucks and other cars and it does make the shifts fast / firm / put you in the seat kind of shift
but my 3rd gear .. in sport / manual mode it is different every time
It shifts smooth as the auto mode sometimes, "firm" sometimes, "extra firm" sometimes, and every now and then BAAANG as if my rear end just exploded
should I be concerned about this and take it to the dealer first b/c I was about to install the transgo valve body kit to firm up all the other shifts ???
oh, and I have a 2007 Touring w/ 8000 miles
Thanks,
Adrian

Because if worse comes to worse, who would you rather have pay for the tranny, yourself or Nissan?
Its always a safe bet to go in and at least have them take a look at it and give you a quote if they won't cover the problem
I definitely don't have any problems with my auto, although 2-3 can be pretty quick (not sounding like it will break though)

Normal, mine does it too. I find that shifting around 3-3.5k rpm produces a smoother transition. There was a post about this (I couldn't find it) and this guy agro al explained it well. Basically its the torque converter.
