Default Ok, so now my car is gutless...not cool.

First off, Im really lookin for some help, and I have had a pretty hard time using the search function effectively on here.... brings up pages of random results...so if there was some thread that you all know about from last year.... I DIDNT SEE IT. And yes, I did try to search before posting. Just reply and help me out here please.

2005 6mt enthus, Scottsdale AZ, 67k miles, orig clutch.
took OFF the LED taillights, back to OEM.
HKS exhuast
JWT filter.
Did full throttle/pedal/ECU reset.
Use good gas.
Car pulls hard first thing in the day (live in AZ, engine starts at norm oper temp w out running for morethan a minute, its hot here.) then thru the day just feels like a lame duck.

Car feels gutless even thou it sounds great, but its totally hype. thot maybe a slipping clutch, tried the WOT in 6th gear thing to see if revvs jumped, they did not. thot it was the disconnected ground wire from my exhuast install causing bad reading by o2, but no CEL (still fixed that). Still makes me wonder why any single normal car out there has more low end pull than my car. Kind of disheartening. I know they can hear me on the pedal, but there I am, right next to them in thier truck/mazda 323, civic, etc. Cars I should be able to ghost at leat a LITTLE bit ...

Basically feels like there is ZERO torque to the acceleration.

Again, theres no CEL..help?!?!? Its got enuff soupin up done to it where the dealer isnt really gnna help me I doubt.

Does your car ever overheat or has it in the past? Seems to me like somehow your engine is being heat soaked, which would explain it having power when you first start it (cold motor) compared to it being driven. Do you have the heat shield installed with your JWT filter?

Work with a dyno shop. Dyno first thing in the am, dyno in the heat of the afternoon. Prove that it's just the heat.

Perhaps its ur HKS exhaust... From my experience with aftermarket exhausts they always kills your low end torque

+1 on the dyno. without objective #'s, theres no real way to tell what's wrong, if anything.

I agree with the heat assessment. You're in AZ. As the day goes on, the air temp gets hotter, which *will* make a noticeable impact on power.

If you have your stock intake box, try putting that back on. Hopefully this helps.

I agree, put your stock intake back on for a few days and see if there's a difference. You are mega heat soaking the engine in your 100+ degree summer days!

Had the same issues when I lived in AZ. When its 120 outside you're bound to have heat soak.

Cool, thats honestly what I figured the issue was... bought the Kinetix V composite plenum, I know its larger, but honestly its the material Im interested in. Ive beentold this can help a bit. Hopefully have it on by this weekend ( if i can find a ride to and from work etc...) and Ill report back my findings after install, haha. And yea, the lows have been about 88-91 here, about 116 during the day. Also, I switched to QT gas.. maybe this will help too.

First you need the heat shield, that heat shield makes over a 100 degree difference in intake temp, actually closer to 120 degrees. If you don't have the heat shield, just put the stock airbox back on.

Also a dyno run would be nice, you could compare it to everyone elses and see how close you are or arn't.

all great ideas. Decided to really dig in again. Bought the Kinetix v composite plenum... going the Top Secret/ Intense res'd test pipes. Cobb tuning ECU programmer.... changing my plugs ( 68k miles), running QT gas.. and yes, today is cooler by 20 degrees and car runs MUUUCH better. Didnt know that heat shield makes that much diff... good to know. will post here or in another better spot with the results soon. Cobb tuner wont be until next mo tho...

Hot again, runs like crap again.....pretty sure thats my biggest enemy. Some other thoughts.. will be cleaning the MAF. Idle has been jumpy. And I literally think traction is an issue too... I may be wheel spinnin just that little bit to loose torque. Gettin camber bars installed at Intense now too.

Updates... decided to clean the MAF... it also has a nasty "stumble" at idle sometimes, like when the AC kicks in, etc. Has never been cleaned 67k miles. Took it all off, brought it all in side and looked at the assembly....not too dirty, clenaed it anyways...buuuuuut wow, what is this....i have a good sized gap behind the filter between the MAF adapter and the MAF itself, that cant be good. Made a nice gasket for it and tightened it all back up, and the idle issue is solved immediately.

Hopefully i can reset the ecu, drive it enuff to re learn, and update this w good news sometimes this week.
