Default Anybody put 07 6spd into 03 ?

My car is 03 and I my 3rd gear is messed up(when 3rd gear engaged engine revs freely). I found 07 tranny locally (real good deal) and want to replace mine with it. However look like the HR 07-08 that I found doesn't has slave cylinder anymore (Come with CONCENTRIC SLAVE). Is it direct bolt up to 03 clutch line or there something has to be changed in order to use it.

The 07 has HR and is quite different it uses a newer style slave cylinder thats inside the bell housing... I got a 03 g35 trans with same issue as your and i have a 07 trans here i was gonna try and swap bell housing onto.. they look identical from front half/bell back.

Any chance you could weigh one of the transmissions?

Does one seem like it is noticeably heavier than the other? I had assumed either one would weight the same. I'd like to compare the weight between the T-56 off a GTO to the 03-06 transmission, though, if you could.

if you put a newer one in, get the newest "revision" of the tranny. I had my 03 tranny replaced and it has it marked as "revision 10" which i assume is the newest version of our trannies. I guess it has larger synchros to combat the problem with 3rd and 5th

How many miles did it take you guys have issues with the 03 tranny?

I have a brand new 03 tranny with 3k on it im using that shifts perfectly. I also have my old tranny that shifted perfect but i dont know the year or version on it. After reading this thread i plan on keeping it though just in case.

jusr bought mine Z used, and it has 69k on it, didnt grind for the first 500 miles I had it, now it grinds like a you know what above 4k going into 3rd. I doubt EVERY 03 tranny grinds, but the probability seems higher on 03 and 04 from what I have gathered.

you have drivetrain warranty until 70k. Go get it replaced. I had mine replaced at 62k and i'm not the first owner. I'm the second owner.

Mine clunked when putting it into gear while stopped and i took it to the shop and they just put a new tranny and clutch in without a hesitation.

Common problem among 2003s. My '03 grinds like a mug. I don't know why the previous idiot didn't take it in under warranty. Oh well, I got my Z for a killer deal, so even when the tranny goes out, I already factored in the price of a replacement eBay tranny before I bought the car.

Binder, looks like you're on stuntlife eh?

the warranty is 70k or 5 years correct? So my 2003 is out of warranty.

yep, since it started way back in the day. i used to compete in the pro class until i broke my back and pelvis. I decided that my career was more important so now i just stuntride for fun. no more pushing the limits to get ahead.

ah, that might be. I guess I wasn't at 5 years when i had mine replaced. I would still check with the dealership. If you do repeat business with them they might just goodwill it.

Its an 03, So im out of warranty! If it was still in it would be at Kenny Ross Nissan right now and my cousin(tech) would be putting in a new tranny for free, but he will be putting a tranny in! As soon as I sell my bike and old car, Im buying a 05 or 06 tranny, and maybe a new clutch for good measure!
