Default Am I running a bit hot?

So my Z's got just over 75k Miles, and lately when i seem to be in stoplight to stoplight traffic i seem to get up to the 3/4 Hotness for my water temp. Would it be time to replace the waterpump?

that should be normal, anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 is within the right range.

when the water pump starts to go (generally) its the bearings seizing and you will notice coolant leaking from around the pulley.

The water pump is not generally the reason for overheating

Default Replace the Thermostat

If you haven't done it yet you should replace the thermostat. Its at the right-front side of the engine and shouldn't take more than 30 mins to an hour to replace, refill, and bleed the air out of the system. And I don't think your needle is ok fluxuating back and forth from 1/2 (normal) to 3/4 (very hot, boardering on damage). Take it from me, more than 1/2 is bad, one engine later.

If you hear that boiling sound it means you may have some air in your system, which can cause overheating. Did you change your coolant recently? Or you may have a leak in coolant.

3/4 isn't normal, I don't know what the other guy is talking about. You obviously have some issue causing your motor to heat up. If you hear boiling sounds, it usually isn't a good sign. This means you have blow-by, which is caused from either a cracked head, or a blown head gasket. You can check to see if your thermostat is stuck closed by checking to see if both upper and lower radiator hoses have pressure, and that they both get hot. You can also check your radiator; it may be clogged. But if you're hearing boiling, it's neither of these. Check your head gaskets and make sure your heads/block isn't warped from the heat.

this guy is totally right 3/4 is not normal and oh shi...... i can hear water boiling on my passenger side. i tried purging 6 times and FAILED. there was no signs of air in the lines after replacing the thermostat. i did that whole jack up the front end, fill to the top, bleed the line, close the bleeder, bought the funnel, turn the car on, rev to 3k and keep constant coolant....nothing. i guess ill run a compression test and or drain the oil to see if i blew the headgasket

I know this may seem to easy but since it only does this at a stand still check the fan and its relays/fuses. With no air in the system and a new thermostat that is the last cheap fix before it get expensive or time consuming.
