Default First Dyno of my Car. Good results

I went to the S2000 car meet this morning in Austin Texas at MZM to get the car dyno'ed. Well I am pleased with the results, the car has a borla and a injen CAI and that's all the performance mods and it put down 257.5HP @ 6250 RPM and 245.1TQ at 4750 RPM.

Wowsers! Looks like you got yourself a strong engine. Out of curiosity, what brand of dyno was it, and what gear did you test in? Just wondering how it compares to other dynos around here.

Sounds about right...

Mustang dyno's tend to read about 10 - 15 hp higher than a traditional dynojet.

Nice pull for those mods!

Isnt this the same type dyno that was used at Mossy Nissan that got such high hp pulls and caused quite a stir in which several people questioned the hp of that dyno?

How much did they run you for labor... I'm looking to put in borla ex too, maybe even the long headers (i know headers will take a while for install)

Sure is, Jeff... and, I would guess, they both run about the same amount higher than a comparable DynoJet. Which one is more correct???? Who's to say?

What I think is important is how much difference each one registers between one set of mods and the next. So what do we have here?

With only a Borla TD and Injen CAI, dmayzn logged 257.5 rwhp on the Mustang Dyno. With pretty much the same set up, I logged right at 245rwhp on a DynoJet and, as I recall, this is typical (well, maybe 1-3rwhp low) for a Z sporting the Borla and CAI. So, the Mustang dyno ran 12.5rwhp higher, or 5.2% higher than the DynoJet.

If we go back to Richard's dyno run of 301rwhp on the Mossy (Mustang) Dyno day and adjust it accordingly (301rwhp / 1.052%), we get a comparable DynoJet rating of 286rwhp.

Ultimately, we want to look at the difference for Richard's Z, so....

Mustang Dyno = 301rwhp - 257.5rwhp = 43.5 rwhp gain
DynoJet Dyno (approx) = 286rwhp - 245 rwhp = 41 rwhp gain

So, either way you slice it, it looks like the mods Richard and Greg did (beyond the Borla exhaust and CAI) are good for about 40-45rwhp...

Add in the Borla and CAI and the whole package is likely good for about 60 rwhp over stock or 360 hp at the crank! WOOHOO


which to me sounds very reasonable! I hope I get that much when I make my changes!

Sorry for being dumb..How much power does a stock Z make at the wheels?

Also, someone else posted that they got 20rwhp form the borla TD exhaust. (just thought I'd mention that)

Most people dyno about 232 to 243rwhp. Temperature, type dyno, and variations in hp from stock Z to Z make up the reasons for the 10 hp difference.

Someone other than me? I actually posted dynos where I showed a 17hp gain on mine. Just wondering if you read my old post of if someone else posted a gain that high?

Well, they said "Borla claimes 20 rwhp, lets just say its true!"

They said that because they did not have a chart to scan in to show us. Don't remember who it was who said that.
