Default building a dif

Ok, i am building a diff and have a extra pumpkin from a 05 z with a vlsd, and a xterra open dif with 4.9 gears. My question is can i use the open diff and weld up the spider gears on the xterra diff and put it and the 4.9 in the z pumkin housing with the vlsd stubs?

4.9??? your gears are gonna be crazy short, top speed in each gear almost half of what it is now...

yea i know but i need a 1/8mile N/A monster to suit the track near me. just need to know what i can do to lock this rear up without spending the $ on a crazy limited slip thats just not needed. This is my spare rear, i will swap it in for race days. have the 3.55 with stock vlsd for day to day.

I think you will find that the 4.9 will not go into that pumpkin, nor bolt up to your driveshaft, without significant custom work. VLSD stubs are different from open diff stubs as well.

Define "fit". Any R200 ring and pinion will phyiscally go inside the case - getting them to work is a different story altogether.

Did you use a pinion bearing? if so, which?

Did you use a crush collar? If so, which?

Did you bolt the ring gear to the diff you intend to use? If so, with which bolts?

Did you try to install the mounting flange for the driveshaft to the pinion? If so, which one?

These are just some of the issues

im curious on the matter as well. how hard is the swap. i have a base Z and will swap with you if its a straight drop in. also if a 4.9 ratio is to short then what would be a good ratio you know something that will give you a faster acceleration. ohyea pm me on the swap.
