Default Heat question

Hey everybody new to the forum and had question about how hot the upper intake manifold gets. I drove the car for about an hour at normal speeds/normal acceleration and after letting the car sit in my cool garage for a couple hours the upper intake manifold is still too hot to touch for more then a couple seconds. Is this normal or do I have a cooling problem? The temp gauge while driving is showing nothing out of the ordinary but it just seemed odd that it would hold the heat for such a long time.

Just put a bag of ice on top of the plenum and you are good to go for the next quarter mile.

Just about everything under the hood is made of aluminum and aluminum is an excellent thermal conductor so naturally it all gets very hot. It's normal so don't sweat it (pun intended).
