Default Serious MAF Issues

I bought my car used a few months ago and it came with a CEL on. First it was on for the TPs but I fixed that. Now its throwing a MAF sensor code. I have a 5/16 thermoiso plenum spacer and a JWT pop charger. I even replaced the MAF a few days ago and it still throws the code. I know my filter is not over oiled because I literally blew all the oil I could out of it. The light will stay off for 25 or so miles and then BAM back on, randomly. I don't know what I could do next or how to fix it but my inspection is due and im pretty sure they wont pass me when im throwing a CEL.

ANY IDEAS would be much appreciated

Eddie

Did you replace the maf housing or sensor? If you are throwing a multiple/random misfire it is usually a leak after the maf housing or that the sensor needs to be cleaned. You need to figure out what the code is first.

the sensor was cleaned right before i put it in. I did it very thoroughly. Do you need the exact code number because it kept saying Mass Air Flow Error. I replaced the sensor not the housing

Edited because ^^^ beat me.

Possible causes area:
Air fuel ratio (A/F) sensor 1 heater
 Fuel pressure
 Fuel injector
 Intake air leaks

My guess is intake air leak given the changes you made.

how should I go about trying to fix it?

Where should I check for the leaks?
And how would I check the A/F sensor?

You can check for volatage across the leads of the O2 sensor.

For an air leak some people use smoke to see if air is getting sucked in somewhere. Some people spray carb spray around the seams and find the leak when the engine idle bumps up.

where is the A/F Sensor?
If it is an air leak how would I fix it?

Would the air leak be in the tube or the spacer for this code?

Could be either......I would just go through it, take apart the upper plenum (and intake), and reassemble it. Then clear the codes and keep your fingers crossed .

The car has always made a weird noise when i accelerate, it sounds like metal pieces churning in something, I thought it was always due to the thermoiso just makin weird noises, could it be leaking air or something?
