anyone else hates the second gear??
I gotta say, I do not like the second gear in our Z....from first to second, it is harder to get in, I hate the feeling. I was wondering if anyone else feel the same way?

I don't necessarily dislike the gear "Feeling". I just don't care for the powerband, downshifting to 2nd issues no thrill for me.
1st and 3rd def. bring more a rush...

Just bought mine yesterday, but I traded in a Dodge CTD 4x4 with the HD 6 speed transmission. If you want to drive something that is hard to shift drive the Dodge. I guess it depends on what you are use too.

A great Autocross Gear
We use second gear and get great torque for autocross. I have had no problem with my 6MT. I ahve Sn 65 and it has only had the small nusance issues.
I continue to really injoy this car.

thnx for the replies guys...jsut wanted to see if I was the only one.
I must be clear, I wasn't saying that I don't like the car...just that, 1st to 2nd shift is not my favorite, that's all. Oh, is there maybe any I can do to smooth out the feel? like a tranny oil change or somethign...?

Hmm Funny thing is, I had similar opinions with most of you guys (hated 1st to 2nd) but then, these days, I hate 2nd to 3rd even more. I have no problem shifting quick and fast from 1st to 2nd, but from 2nd to 3rd, in quick shifting, I keep making mistake (or that notorions 3rd gear grind of Z transmission? dunno) quite often. Like.. 1/5 probability.
But for the 2nd gear itself, I like it. 1st goes way too fast, 3rd is a little slower compared to 2nd. I slam the throttle in 2nd quite often (@over 3k rpm) to enjoy quick rush.
Of course, if I put Turbo or Supercharger on my Z, I know I'm going to enjoy 3rd more than any other gears. Ahh.. wheelspins.

I have always wondered if it was just me that though second gear was slower to engage than the othe gears. I notice it more when I am getting on it and shifting from first to second.
Once in second gear the car pulls hard. First has always seemed short to me too. I like getting to 3rd, 4th and 5th.

49K miles, on my 3rd tranny 2nd gear is sweet for powershifting into or rev matching into, I love it. I think my 1-2 is my best shift, you cant even hear the shift outside the car, all you hear is 1st then you hear the wheels spinning....only gear I have a problem with is 4-5 fast, I dont powershift this usually.

youve realy got 2 options with this shift.
1) ride the clutch a bit longer, or....
2) pause a bit longer to let the RPMs drop a bit more to have a smooth engagement. (what i do)
i have found that shifting below 3000 rpm for 1-2 and 2-3 makes it real quick and smooth. if i go over 3000 in either gear it makes it a bit trickier.
