Default Is it worth molly coating you pistons?

Im building a motor for a powerlab turbo kit, has anyone got their piston tops and skirts coated? Is it worth the investment? Ive seen it run from 250 - 350 $ range,

It's actually a moly disilicide (MoSi2), sometimes called "Moly" coating to reduce friction. For that small investment, it is worthwhile.

Get the tops ceramic coated, leave the moly skirt coating off unless you like spending extra money. It doesn't do anything productive on a street car and it doesn't last too long. Ceramic coated tops usually help with heat retention and combustion efficency, but the skirt coatings are mainly for race apps where saving that little bit of friction is wanted and the motor gets rebuilt regularly, so the coating coming off isn't a concern.

Molybdenum Disulfide is used for its anti friction properties. Molybdenum Disilicide is a refractory coating.
