my $9.99 lower engine planel
hey guys
well tonight i decided to fix my sagging lower engine plastic planel. Since i can't shell out $400+ for a ARC or other equilvent brands, i went to Merrits for a aluimnum sheet. At the cost of $9.99 why not give it a try, after an 1.5hrs of trial and error. here is the finished project
it isn't a shiny show piece or perfect, but hey it works for me. SINCE ITS NOT SEEN lol
First i started off with my original cover. notice that it is trimmed a bit, 2k6-z33 trimmed it while installing my GTspec bar awhile back.
i layed my sheet underneath and used it as my diagram
after trimming the sheet metal here is how it looks
then a quick test fit
then tightened the screws down into place. heres the results of my mickey mouse job
and my favorite shot
only regrets that i have is that i should of used a bigger sheet metal to cover the whole area. so now i'm brainstorming a way to cover up those areas. i will most likely use sheet metal to cover those areas.
thanks for taking the time
Oh btw.. anyone wanna trade hoods? lol

Not bad for a first try........functional...
I really need to figure a day out to do this too.......gots some peeps that are waiting on me...lol..
i would say do it again like you said with a larger peice and spend a moment figuring out a good sized access hole for the oil filter changes, etc....thinking about size needed to get oil filter wrench on and off, etc..

lmao! who wears socks w/ sandals?
not bad if you welded pieces together and used the right equipment to make this project better you could sell these. i think if you buffed and polished it, it would look more presentable. u sir made my day because of your socks w/ sandals picture
