Have you had the valve cover gaskets replaced? Sounds like your paying for this transmission fix...

Yeah, they have replaced just about ever gasket there is yet i keep having this problem. The first time the trani went nissan covered it under factory warranty, but this time i'm going to have to see if the extended warranty will cover it. i'm supposedly covered till 106,000 miles but its always a fight trying to get them to pay up, im very nervous!!

Before the Z i had a 240SX, sorry no Hondas for me buddy. Now it's grinding 5th gear, the first tranny was grinding 3rd. Why do you say not to have the dealer work on it??? have you had problems with them???? I dont know any other shops by me that i know i can trust (not that i can trust Nissan) I'm in south florida if anyone has suggestions on a shop.

Unfortunately, our Zs are the opposite of most other Sports cars, in the sense that their ATs are trouble-free, while MTs are clunky. I own an '04.5 Touring Coupe with an AT and, so far, it's been a sweet affair! My son also owns one at Laredo--with many more miles on her--and "no problemo", either (mine has just 23,733k on it, while my son's has 48,000+k). Weird, I know.

I dropped it off on Sunday. Spoke to them today, said that they could either "over-haul" the tranny or replace it with a NEW 1... you know I jumped on replacing it =) he also said that my valve gasket, timing gasket and oil pan gasket needs to be replaced. <--- how the hell did I blow all these gaskets?? thank god they are taking care of everything... going to cost 75 bucks outta pockett

I dunno WTF that guy is talking about, valve cover gaskets I can understand, but the timing covers, upper and lower oil pans are held on with a silicone sealant and not a gasket.

Maybe your valve cover gaskets are just leaking so bad that they are washing down the whole engine?
