listen to the two exhausts yourself. everyones opinion is subjective anyways. it depends on what you want not what other people want, cause ultimately you wanna be happy and that depends on you not the people on this board. i understand the input is good toward making a decision, but if your not happy with the sound then it was a waste. also, all borla exhausts come with a million mile warranty, so theyre equal in that area. in addition, the power made by the borla is more (even if just by a little bit), and the price is cheaper, so it really comes down to the sound of the exhausts. also, dont be so quick to jump on the nismo band wagon (lest we forget the whole nismo intake scam).

There is no NISMO intake scam. NISMO outsources a TON of stuff. Not everything, but a lot of things. And also, there is no conclusive proof about this. Only stuff people say on the Internet. NISMO has not said anything and neither have other companies. If NISMO products are similar to other companies, the Z is similar to a Porsche, Audi TT, Lexus SC430, etc. Who copied who on everything in the whole freakin world?

no its pretty much a fact that nissan took aem intakes rebadge them, added a water bypass and resold them for way more than the cost of the aem.

I'm in Tampa, FL - - anybody with a Nismo or Borla exhaust in the area send me an email (Sz28r@aol.com) - I really want to hear the exhausts in person before I purchase, but I am leaning towards the Nismo - I had a Borla on my '94 Z28, I'm not real fond of the band type clamps - but we'll see - - please email me and maybe we can meet somewhere so I can hear your exhaust tone - wow it would be great to have both Nismo and Borla side by side - - thanks,

Steve

So how is that a scam? Personally, I think if you buy a CAI of ANY kind you got scammed.

Just an FYI. Join your local Z club. Several dealers around Chicago will honor the local club parts discount on Nismo parts. My dealer gives 20% off, which makes the exhaust $880. Other dealers around town give even higher discounts. My dealer quoted my 3/4 labor for installation.

I'm waiting until Spring. All I'd be able to do with the exhaust until then is listen to it in the garage and I'd probably asphyxiate myself.

Was the Nismo exhaust covered in the Sportszmagazine exhaust comparison testing? That's the only reasonably objective exhaust comparison I'm aware of being done. Seems like many want Nismo for the name (fine with me).

Wish I could post a sound file, but I guess it does not help anyway unless you have a Fujitsubo dealer where you are and the system passes your emissions controls. Had my system as a dealer installed option from new because of the much nicer sound and I like pipes I could fit my arm into LOL!

Anyway Nissans official stance in Japan is that's all the Fujitsubo system does. However I have magazine dyno charts that say different. Don't know if these figures are at the flywheel or rwhp but the normal system was 270.9ps & 35.5Kg-m. Just replacing the muffler section produced 281.4ps & 37.0Kg-m. Replacing the front pipes too with Fujitsubo pipes took it to 282.6ps & 38.8Kg-m.

But the magazine didn't stop there, they went on to try different front pipes with the Fujitsubo muffler. Sorry but couldn't read the company name, but using a short style front pipe they got it to 299.2ps & 40.7Kg-m.

After that they retuned with a Hi TECH-ROM to get 309.3ps & 41.4Kg-m. All without going inside the engine, just exhaust system and tuning.

Anyways I'm happy with my Fujitsubo system no matter what it puts out, it looks good and sounds great, even has a nice Z logo on it

How is the Nismo CAI a scam? Are the NISMO wheels a scam then too? Or the leather seats that come standard on certain models (last I checked Nissan is not a cow breading company).

C'mon on guys - I thought we were more mature than this!

Someone mentioned this on the thread earlier but wasn't addressed. I'm wondering the same thing. Is this exhaust F/I ready?

I would say up to around the 400 whp level, any of the exhausts on the market will be fine - for the ideleal setup though, might just want to pick your own muffler style (styles if you want duals), and have it made to accomodate larger piping if you need it.

I don't even have the Nismo Exhaust on my web-site. It's in such a big box that it is shipped by truck. I sell a ton of them local but shipping costs are too high to send them out of the area. I'm in the process of getting new boxes to break them up into 3 smaller units I can send UPS. Should knock shipping down by 1/2 or more.
