Default Bushing on crank on one motor not on the other? Help please.

Could someone tell me if this bushing on the back of the crank should be there or not. I just picked up a used engine and the used engine has an extra bushing on the crank area where the flywheel bolts up. Problem is that my old 03 motor does not have this bushing. Can someone verify if this should be here or if i should remove it. Both are 03 motors. Many thanks!

Here are the pix of the old motor without the bushing:

Here are the pix of the newer motor with extra bushing:

That appears to be a spacer, perhaps for an automatic transmission. You are talking about the small part right in the middle of the crank right?

Yes the small part right in the middle where the pilot bushing would go for a 6 speed car. Anyway of removing this? It looks like it goes all the way back. I tried to pull off the whole cover but that did not help. Would a gear puller pull that center part out?

I believe the service manual shows the pilot converter being removed here.
