Revup engine question. Cylinder bore questions.
Ok first, i know this question has been answered before i cant find it for some reason. I have a revup 05 block and i wanna use a nonerevup harness and ECU. I know the heads and timing chain cover have to be swapped. What else is neccessary to swap for proper engine operation and no codes what soever.
also...
I dont have a bore gauge and don't really have 100 bucks to spend on one. Is there anyway to check cylinder out of bore without anything more than a micrometer or feeler gauge. Also how crusial is gettin rid of the cylinder ridgline that forms on top. I'm not boring or honing the walls because they are in taper spec with no damage to the walls whatsoever so im just gonna deglaze them for the new piston/rings.
EDIT. The second question goes for a KA24 CI block with 150+k miles

Also, i did some research and found out that a ridge reamer isnt the best way to go if its your first time doing. Is it a good idea to use some course honing stones and then fine it out. start with 280 to 400. Gonna be using CP pistons with moly rings.

You really need to bore it unless its a new engine. You usually have to use a ridge reamer to get the pistons out. A feeler gauge will work to check clearances. The only thing to be swapped it the non revup heads. Or the non revup cams with a sensor block off plate. Dont hone for than 10 seconds or you will knock the cylinder out of round and be screwed.
For the KA you will have to have it machined. If your doing new pistons, spend the 100$ to have it bored. Its not expensive.
Also ignore JAY'Z he just trys to get his post count up by posting mindless useless information.

Maybe i should just go 20 over huh? I didnt really want to if i didnt have to. thats why i wanted to check out of round since the taper is good and the walls are excellent.
about the vq35 conversion, theres no block modification needed right? As far as grinding a spot down for anything to fit. I hate suprises especially when install in the car already. lol.
Alright, im gonna start the conversion tomorow.
