I was wondering if anyone could help me find a write up on how to pull a tranny. Ive been searching every where and cant find it. My 3rd gear synchro is grinding kinda bad, and i wanted to see what i will be looking forward to when i go to pull it. thanks in advance
Are u sure you know how to rebuild a 350Z tranny??? I am thinking if you know how to rebuild the tranny you probably know how to pull the tranny also. I would leave the yob to those who do this type of work daily, as professionals.

no sorry i dont want to rebuild it, i want to buy another one and replace it myself. im def not tearing it apart.
actually when my friend owned the car before me, her "mechanic" did a full tranny rebuild and of course im already having the 3rd gear grind. They said they would warranty the work for 12 months so this friday im going to take it in and see what they say. but seeing how things go, i will prolly just try to find another one and swap it.

o well removal is pretty straight foreward. drop exaust y pipe and mid pipe remove drive shaft and trans mount remove the sensors and slave cyl. its helps to remove the under body brace but its not completely necessary. double check u have all harness unpluged and out of the way. Then start removing 17mm and 14mm bolts just be careful there is one 17mm bolt that goes in from the engine side on passenger side of the car its a 17mm. Be sure starter and starter cover on the other side are un bolted and start to wiggle it out. installation is the reverse.

thnks, ive never really messed with a nissan before. its usually all honda all day. do you think a swap could be done in a weekend? what kind of fluids do you guys prefer to use, it has 77,000 on the clock right now.

Can be done in one weekend depending on how quick and efficient you work. If you take your time, which you should since it is your first time taking this trans out, then it may take you some time.

STOP- before you drop the tranny!!!
Try draining your tranny and use a 50/50 mix of Redline MTL and MT90 synthetic gear lubicant to refill. I've had cars that had pretty severe shifting problems have them go away using MTL. The 50/50 mix allows you to keep the lubricant viscocity within Nissan specs and could be way cheaper than rebuilding the box. Give it a try, it could really save your a$$!
