Default oil and filters...

I just recently got my 08 grand touring back in September. Put window tint and changed the orange reflectors to clear ones. I am going to do most of my own maintenance and i wanted to get some info about oil and oil filters. Are the k&n oil filters good? bad? The Nissan service advisor told me to stick with Nissan parts...although his opinion is 100% biased. I wanted to hear from experienced Z owners. Also, has anybody tried Royal Purple Sythetic Oil? Opinions? All advice is appreciated!

It's way better to do the maintenance yourself that's if you know what you are doing. I used mobile 1 synthetic for all my cars, but I am not sure about RPSO. STP oil filter is the best to me. K&N are not bad but for some reason their filter paper comes of to easy, so I wouldn't take that chance.

I use walmart brand filter on mine (purolater) and would have no problem with any filter other than Fram. Search for royal purple, sucks in the VQ. The dealer will also tell you that a new crush washer is needed for every change, BS, 106k on mine and its the original with no leaks.

K & N is no different than Mobil 1's. The mobil is cheaper. Take a look into the pureone, wix, and bosch(same as pureone) Been wanting to try a Donaldson oil filter...
