Default Clutch Pedal sticking

Before I start, I have already searched so before you bash, please read first.

A few days ago, I noticed my clutch pedal would stick about 20% from being all the way up and I would have to use my foot to pull the pedal back up. The clutch pedal is coming up past the engagement point and is basically sticking in the free play area. I brought it to the dealer today since my warranty is running out at the end of the month and they tell me its because of my clutch disk being worn.

For some background info, I used to work at a Honda dealership and I've driven many manual transmission cars with worn clutches before. Never before have I ever seen a sticking clutch pedal as any type of symptom for a worn out clutch disk.

What I'm asking for is for anyone who've experienced this problem and had it repaired at the dealer, can you please post:

1) Year and model of the vehicle
2) Approximate mileage of the vehicle when the problem occurred and was repaired
3) What type of repair your dealership performed
4) which dealership performed the repairs
5) And finally, if this repair actually fixed your concern

BTW, I own a 2006 G35 coupe. I am posting this here because this forum acts a bit quicker and we all share the same components.

I appreciate any help as I am going to be picking up the vehicle tomorrow and would like to bring something in when I show up to confront them tomorrow.

the clutch pedal engagment point is what tells how worn your clutch is...
if it is not coming all the way up then it is a problem with your "hydraulic" clutch system having air or master cylinder piston rod not adjusted correctly to fill up the circuit correctly... and I am sure that going to the dealership with some forum "information" will do you any good... I work at one of the biggest nissan dealerships and customers usually dont get a step to stand on with forum tales... just letting you know... im not saying you dont have a problem... I would just let them fix it under warranty and if there is still an issue then try making a scene... you catch more bees with honey anyways

Some 2006 have the self adjusting pressure plates like the HR's, Seems to be an on going battle.
I think the self adjusting mechanism in the pressure plates is failing and causing this issue.

So update, I went to pick up the car and had it out with the service manager. They stuck to their story and in short, wouldn't listen at all and blamed it on the clutch.

Also, I just did my alignment on Saturday and checked out my brakes. Specs on the brakes were 8/32 rear and 4/32 fronts. Infiniti tells me my front brakes are at the squealers and need to replace them now. I called them out on their lie and they said "oh, well at 4/32 you're going to need them soon anyway". I told them to **** off and now I'm dealing with corporate.

FYI, the dealer I was at was Holman Infiniti in Maple Shade, NJ. Avoid at all cost!!

Thanks for the info and that is exactly what I was trying to explain to them. The point of engagement has been normal. When the pedal sticks, it comes up past the point of engagement, vehicle is in gear, no slipping, no odd revving. It only hangs up in that free play area. They refused to listen and we had it out a bit. Now I gotta wait for a corporate rep to get back to me

The ware of the clutch really has nothing to do with where the clutch engages on the HR models.
The CSC is always planted on the fingers of the pressure plate no matter how worn the clutch is. The HR also has a self adjusting pressure plate so when the clutch disk wares it will adjust the height of the fingers automatically keeping the same clamp load and pedal pressure/height throughout the clutches life.

Now if the pressure plate should hang up or stick when it's trying to adjust or the pressure plate itself is not working properly the pressure plate fingers may not push the CSC back to its resting position which in turn will not push the fluid back which will not push the pedal all the way back up.

I've had great experience with Woodbury and Nissan of Turnersville. Try them out. Is it sticking under hard accel? My 06 does the same occasionally at the track but never when driving normal.

My 05 touring does the exact same thing...
I thought it was heat related.. but it did it several times this winter (Washington state)

Dealer is supposed to look at it next week.

I have a 2005 enth. Just got it out of service for this issue. 38K miles.

I have a Carbonetics triple plate clutch. When the car was cold it would not fully return, it would hang part way.

My roommate and I tried to bleed it out the shop and it straight crapped out, and wouldn't return at all.

Turns out the Clutch master was going out and when we released pressure on the system it was done. Dealer put in a new one today and bled the system. Good to go.

You are aware that you have a 6yr/70k mile powertrain warranty that covers everything in the clutch except the plates? How many miles on on your G? Do you burn the clutch up, are you hard on the clutch? If you are easy on the clutch it should last over 70k miles. If you're under 70k miles and you're easy on yur clutch then I doubt yur clutch plate is worn.

My 065 base does this too... I think its heat related because it usually happens when im running threw the back roads. Took it took Jinkins nissan of Florida... That place can suck my *****. Because it wasnt sticking when i brought it in they said they could do nothing! I just deal with it, after like 3 min. it sticks just before clutch engages so its like quicker shifting....kinda?
