Hello 350z lovers, i am on the search for a new car and am very interested in the 350Z and G35, Ive done just about all the research i can on the G so that is why i am here posting for the first time. I understand there is issues in certain years of the Z and i just wanted to know everyone's opinion on which year would be the best buy. Thanks for all the help, and sorry if this exact thread exists i tried searching and failed, if you know of one please post link. Thanks everyone.

Welcome. For 2007 the VQ35HR replaces the VQ35DE motor. One may fit your needs best. For reliability look at Consumer Reports data. Very informative.

depends on what you would like to do with it. Most will say to avoid the Rev-ups (35th anniversary stick and 06 stick) due to consumption. Regular DE's are reliable and fun, but the HR is the superior motor in the opinion of most people. I personally have an HR so I will be biased and say 07+, but they're all good cars. By 06 an updated interior was introduced and some refinements made, so anything after that is good. Unless you're looking for a track **** to mod, in which case the DE will make more economical sense, especially since it has a broader range of aftermarket support.

Coming from on '03 owner...buy an 07+ if you're any type of enthusiast. What us DE guys spend in bolt ons to make what an HR equipped Z makes with half the money spent just isn't fair sometimes! Not to mention the "updated" look. Bixenons, LED's, better looking (IMHO) interior, ete...

However there is very little aftermarket for the HR guys if you're looking for big HP numbers. With the older VQ motor there are so many more options.

Well it looks like the 2007 is going for around 18K so i guess thats my budget... anything under 50k miles would be good. Preferably black. (MT)

I do plan on doing some basic modding, more looks than anything else... No F/I

As far as modding the looks shouldnt my options be open just as much as the older models would be...?

I would say 04.5 or 05 if you are getting a DE, and an 07 or 08 for HR obviously, both are good years, 08 being better. if 07 I would see if it needed the slave cylinder recall (I think..) and if it was performed
