THE REVIEW:
This thing is nice. It comes with everything you need to install and made it real easy. As usual with my car we seem to take things one step too far. The diff is adjustable to 60%, 80% and 100% lock up. I went with 80%. The car is VERY stable when you floor it around a corner and hooks up great. Problem is with the lock up set where it is, in normal driving you go around a corner and it drags the outer tire and the car jumps around a bit. Plus it makes some popping noise's as it locks and releases. With spirited driving it can't be beat!! You have to remember to ALWAY's turn off the traction control or else the light is constantly going on and off when your driving around. Overall I'm very happy with it, but we're going to take the rear cover off and re-adjust it to 60%. The nice thing is we don't have to disassemble the diff to change the setting.

I have the enthusiast model. Needed cruise control or I would have bought the base model since we have disassembled so much of this car already.

It's a huge difference. The LSD that is stock still allows one or the other tire to move a bit. This Nismo like the Cusco unit will lock up solid and doesn't unlock until you lift. It was a bit strange getting used to the feel of driving the car, but I also put in a clutch that isn't very forgiving. 4xx + hp is no problem from what I'm told by Nissan, and I believe it. Come by the dealer and drive the car anytime. This way you can feel it for yourself.

I've forgotten, is the Nismo unit a 1.5 or 2 way?

I've installed a few classic pinion style diffs in my day, and it took lots of patience and calibration to get those installed in the 'pumpkin' just right.

How difficult is this LSD to install?

Just put in a call to Nissan to find out what's up.

Not sure if we just got lucky or what. This thing was in perfect spec on install. I carry all the shims and stuff for Cusco installs, but didn't need any for my Nismo unit. I'm sure that was a one time deal.

Wow, that's great. Can you post the install instructions? Did you heat the new bearings, tap them on or both?

I don't have a scanner here but I will see what I can do about posting the directions. We did not have to use heat. We just used a big socket as a tool and tapped the brg's into place.

Alright, I hope I don't get in trouble for this, I just can't keep up with the PM's.... Diff is on our web-site ($900.00) and we charge $450.00 (or less depending on set up) to install.

Hey Jeff, how often do you think the diff fluid needs to be replaced with the Nismo version?
