I have heard that the 350Z roadster has different gearing to compensate for more weight. This would mean that the gearing would be shorter to allow for better acceleration in the heavier car. Has anyone looked at swapping the roadster rear differential pinion and ring gear into their cars for shorter gearing and better acceleration?? It seems to me that this would be a logical step to make a faster track car. Just like changing rear gears in the cars of the sixties from say 3:73's to 4:11's for better drag performance.
What you have heard is wrong. They have the same final drive ratios.

You would think that for cost saving purposes they would run the same trannies in each car but just change the rear end ratio to give better convertable performance. I wonder why all the new write-ups I have read in the car test magazines say the convert has different gearing? A conspiracy by Nissan perhaps to keep enthusiast interest high in the convert?
