a/c belt
So i tried to do a search for this and found nothing. i have changed my a/c belt 3 times in the last 10,000 miles and 2 times in the last 200 miles. Just wondering what would cause this or if this is a known issue with my car, its an 05 non rev-up. I have a vortech kit on it but i dont think that has anything to do with it because the first time it went i did not have the kit on yet. the belts are just coming off the pulley. Is my compressor bad and locking up? or is it just a problem with the pulleys themselves. I have personally looked it over and my performance shop i use has looked it over and neither of us could see anything wrong.
So the belt is coming off the compressor? Next time you have the belt off I would just try turning the compressor by hand and see if it turns nice and easy. Are you using a Nissan belt or an aftermarket one? Does it fit nice and tight once you snug up the tensioner?
yes everything fits nice and tight and seems to line up just fine. i just get the belts at the local parts store (napa, carquest etc.) i will check the compressor tonight i guess and see how easily that turns, that seems to be a good idea. anything else? i thought i heard something about problems with a/c belts a while back? not sure though.
Unless the ignition is on and the AC is on, the clutch on the compressor won't be engaged. If the clutch isn't engaged, the pulley will turn very freely.
You might be able to grip the part of the clutch that's connected to the compressor shaft tightly enough to turn it, but that might not tell you much about the compressor.
Is the AC working properly (putting out plenty of cold air) when the belt is in place? It it is, it's most likely not the compressor.

yes the a/c seems to work well when the belt is in place.. wtf now? im no racecar.. lol i would like to have some a/c ... lol ill throw one more belt on and have someone else turn the a/c on and have them tell me if it blows cold air while i watch it?
