Question How do you clean Nismo filters?

Quick Q for everyone, I thought i had posted a thread already but can't seem to find it.

My Nismo CAI has two very dirty filters, I'm assuming they're washable so I just need to know how - I know K&N makes a recharge kit, but I dont want to use it as it dyes the filters red (the oil you apply after cleaning is coloured) and the Nismo filters are white.

So how does everyone else clean their filters? Is there a nismo recharge kit I can use? I only ask because the K&N directions say the filters wont work without an application of the (red) oil - it says they'll just let most dirt/dust particles through and the oil is necessary.

I wash filters (K&N) in soap and water.
Dry.
Spray with a little WD40.

Others buy fancy kits with colored spray.

if you have the dry-flow filters, then u can use the AEM filter cleaning kit: http://www.aemintakes.com/air_filter_cleaning_kit.htm

if you have the K&N filters, then you can use the K&N filter cleaning kit available at most auto parts stores, or do like davidv above.

How often should they be cleaned? I have the same thing except the Nismo filters are black.

they should be cleaned whenever they are dirty. depending on your driving style, what environments you drive through, etc.
