New Tranny Won't Go Into Gear After Sitting For a Couple Days
Ok guy's riddle me this..... I have an 06 coupe that Nissan just replaced the motor in about a month ago and a new tranny that was replaced about two weeks ago.
I travel a lot with my job so normally i'm only home a couple days a week, now my question is,my car sat in one spot for the past 6 days and when i got home today to drive my baby i couldn't get it into a single gear at first, i actually had to push it backwards out of the driveway then i thought i was going to break the shifter off trying to get it in first gear.
I eventually got it and started down the road and every gear was taking all the strength i had just to get it in gear, so i kept driving around town and it eventually got better and by the time i got back home it was shifting decent.
Could this be an issue where all my lubrication ran off gears or could it be an adjustment issue, i wouldn't think adjustment seeing as how it was fine the day i left town.
Should i look into a better quality transmission fluid, any help or answers will be greatly appreciated!!!

Unless they lubed it with lighter fluid, there's no way all the lube could disappear from the mechanism in just six days. Did it shift OK when you got it back from the dealer after the transmission replacement? How much did you drive it before you parked it?
Does it grind at all when you're putting it in gear? That would point to the clutch being the problem.
They must warranty their work for at least a couple weeks, so take it back to them.

"...he said that they can be tight sometimes..."
BS!! They'd never be able to sell a MT car if an average guy had trouble shifting the gears to the extent you describe. The QC program would make sure those units never made it to the shipping department or the production line.
Did they install a completely new transmission including the shifter, or did they use the shifter of the old one? Maybe some excess sealant got smeared someplace where it shouldn't be, and then set up while the car was sitting.

Ha!!! I hear ya on the BS Winchman..... And c0ld29 nothings gonna make me mad and i agree it's definitely not normal, and i also agree about hating dealerships but under the current circumstances those guys are my hero's!
Here's a brief history on the car.... bought it 2 months ago out of state with 37,000 miles on it on a Tuesday "as is, no warranty" so they said. when i got to the dealership i purchased it from it turned out to be a very shady a** dealership, but the car seemed fine so i said eff it i'll buy it, seemed to be getting an almost to good to be true deal, given the miles and condition.
Wednesday i serviced it using Royal Purple everything seemed fine!
Friday it slung a rod!!!
Monday i had it towed to the local dealership and within 4 hours of dropping it off they call me with the news " great news Nissan is going to replace the engine under the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty" the warranty i wasn't aware of.
Then two days after picking it up after having a fresh motor put in i notice the tranny making a "rattling" noise so i take it back for an inspection and this time it was about an hour before the phone call " more great news Nissan is going to put in a new tranny for you"
So as you can see it's very hard for me to really hate dealerships right now. Generally if it's not bad luck i have no luck at all but it seems as if my luck is turning around. So compared to everything else that has happened in the past two months this is minor, but still very agrivating.
On another note, i drove it today and it seemed fine but i'm leaving to go out of town again for 4 or 5 days again so we'll see how she does after sitting again.
