Exclamation Transmission will not go into gear

I have a 2004.5 6MT 350Z and I am having the worst of luck lately with it.

The transmission will not go into gear not even if the car is shut off. If you move the shifter you can feel that it will not move over far enough for 5th/6th or reverse. Feels like its stuck between 1-4 but car is in neutral. No weird noises, no weird smells, just stopped going into gears out of the blue while driving. Clutch pedal feels normal. I did some searching on google and on the forums and could not find anything else like it. Any ideas? Thanks.

It's probably something here:

I'd guess that you'll have to remove the transmission to fix it.

I had the same problem it turned out that the forks in the transmission and slipped and locked up on a gear, only way to fix it was to pull tranny apart. I just ordered a used cd0009 one from LKQ cost me 400$ with shipping and worked great

could be a broken sleeve or fork which is basically jamming things up. a few people have broken forks in these transmissions but having built up a number of these transmissions and knowing how beefy the forks are, anyone who is breaking forks is shifting like a crazy person.

sleeves can let go too but in the 350Z transmissions I've been inside there was no significant wear on the sleeves at all to indicate a systematic problem with the trans design that would lead to wear and subsequent failure of the sleeves (like there is in some transmissions).

can you slide the shifter left and right in neutral between where 1/2 are and where 3/4 are, or is the shifter just stuck and basically not movable at all?

if you take the trans out of the car there is a plate on the top of the trans that you can remove to see if you can see anything broken inside. might very well be cheaper to just get a junkyard transmission though.

also don't forget to check the shifter itself. shifters have been known to break, bend, or otherwise cause inability to shift a transmission.

Yea it can move side to side in that exact range only. I really appreciate the responses, I couldn't get to it today due to the rain and working late.
