Default Rogue Engineering Short Shifter review

OK, during lunch today, I installed the Rogue Engineering short shifter. I've been driving it around for a couple hours since then.

Installation was very easy and the manual was very complete. There were no questions of what should go where, it covered everything. Installation is not difficult and can be accomplished with just a 10mm socket and a 12mm socket. They recommend you have a torque wrench available to torque the bolts to the proper level.

The hardest part about the installation was the removal of the control socket. I happen to have access to a hydraulic press so it took me like 5 seconds, but for those that don't it will be a little more difficult. The plastic holding the shifter arm in place is very stiff so you've really got to work at it. The rest of the installation was a piece of cake.

Driving the car with the new shifter is, let me be frank, f&%$ing awesome. The shifts are very smooth and require a tiny bit more force to get it into place, but the shorter throw more than makes up for that. I don't have anything to compare it to because I've never driven another car with a shifter like this. The gates are more precise and you know when it is in place, without a doubt.

There is no additional noise created by this shifter. It's just like a stock one, but you gotta move it less.

I thoroughly enjoy my shifter, thanks Rogue Engineering for building a great product. It was worth the wait.

It is a great product. Unlike Jesseenglish, it took me about 20 minutes to get the control socket out. It's a b!tch, but it will eventually come out. Thanks Ben, great product, I love it.

Another option with this is to just replace the plastic cup it sits in. We went through a couple of them this season in our race car.

LOL, I screwed mine up too. I was using the hydraulic press and was pushing the arm out the wrong way. It still works ok, because I stopped the press when I heard a cracking sound, but it could stand to be replaced.

Easiest thing for removal is put it upside down between a vice or something similar.....but dont clap onto it.just let it hang down between the opening and then strike with a rubber hammer. it then pops right out.
I can check on pricing on these.i dont think they are that much. I know I have a brand new one in the shop.

dwnshift,

thanks for the info.. I'll be trying the install it probably this weekend.. I'm a bit confused.. does the plastic part come out by downwards in relation to the shifter ****.. I'm a bit confused since you mentioned to turn it upside down and then strike the plastic piece..
I'm having problem visualizing the procedure.. could you help me out in understanding this better..

no upside down and strike the the shifter lever. I can post a picture tomorrow.

Do you really need to get under the car for this install like the directions mentioned? If so, what do i need to invest in so i can get under my car in the future? Thanx. 8-)

Yes, you've got to get your arm between the driveshaft and the car body. A good set of jackstands will make your life much easier. I used a lift, but not everyone has easy access to one.

We can sell a new plastic cup with Rogue shifters.
This short shifter makes a huge difference......I absolutely love it.

Wonder how this would work with the NISMO GT Titanium shift ****? Anyone with that combo yet? I bet it will be sweet......

I am running mine witha sparco bio blaclk handle with silver accents.
We have Nismo shifters in stock.............. I smell 350EVO combo deal!

What's it smell like? I'm actually plannin on buying a Nismo shift **** and the Rogue Shifter this week. Along with Swaybars and 18" Nismo Rims as well.
