Default Is there a problem with my transmission?

Hi guys

I have an 05 350z Touring with a manual transmission. A few days ago I began to notice my rpms spiking and my cruise control glitching. At around 68+ mph (i noticed it happen at 68, 70, 73 mph, etc) as im holding down lightly on the gas, my rpms would just spike from around ~2700 rpms to like ~3500 rpms. I am consistently and lightly giving gas and the rpms just spike at a certain MPH. I think this is what cause my cruise control to glitch too because if im cruising at for example 70 and i accelerate it by 1 nudge, the rpms spike and cruise control shuts off.

What can this be? Should I change my transmission fluid?

Kinda sounds like your clutch is slipping.

Welcome. There are several excellent "How to diagnose a slipping clutch?" threads. Worthwhile reading.

I'm not even switching gears or using the cluth when this happens that's why it is so strange. It feels as though I have just switched gears... it actually feels as if it were an automatic because as i accelerate, the rpms go up rapidly for a second as if the car just changed gears.

The clutch is the original oem i think

so this can actually be the clutch even though I am not shifting?

The clutch holds the power of the motor to the trans, if the clutch is weak , it will slip. Google how a clutch works.

are you really asking these questions buy a clutch done deal. pretend the clutch is a road with a patch of black ice your tires never lift off but you still slip (your tires are still engaged to the road) you clutch is worn out and when it catches that bad spot it slips. get it got it good if you still dont get it ask the 15 year old next door to you .
