Default Blown Rod Bearing

Hey guys,

So I recently blew a rod bearing (not sure if that is the correct vernacular) and I am looking for the most cost effective way to go about replacing it. Many have told me that if a rod bearing has gone, I most likely will encounter a bent rod or two. Aside from that, here is my question.

Can I replace a rod bearing from the underside of my car? I've researched this forum and have seen mixed answers. So can it be done? If so, what steps should I take to disassemble?

Thanks much.

No you can not do it from the bottom, You will have to take the bottom off to see which piston was affected and then take the entire front and back cover off the timing chain and remove the head so that you can change the rod and most likely the piston too.
It is cheaper to buy a used low mileage engine and do the swap and sell yours for parts!
